If you read my last email, you’ll know that I promised to make a book free to celebrate Matariki - the Maori New Year. It’s when the Pleiades star cluster appears in the Southern skies. It’s also when, traditionally, we harvest our winter veggies and prepare the ground for spring planting. I think. I don’t currently have a veggie garden, so I could be confused on that one.
Anyway, it’s a big deal here in New Zealand - it’s a public holiday and everything!
The results of the poll showed that the majority of you wanted a western for free this weekend, so The Ways of the West is free from now until Tuesday!
As a proud Kiwi, I like to portray the NZ culture as authentically as possible, and for this reason, a number of my characters are Maori. If you’ve read many of my books, you probably will have noticed.
There’s Jaxon Herewini - the sexy, tattooed, spanking bodyguard from In Daddy's Custody
There’s Davo, the rodeo riding high country shepherd Carly falls in love with in High Country Daddies.
There’s Jimmy Ratana - the rugby playing hero of Kiwi Daddy
And the Lewis brothers mum from Daddy Takes the Reins and Daddies Take Control is Maori, too.
I’m not Maori (although members of my extended family are, including my late granddaughter) but the first boy I ever had a crush on at school was, and Jimmy from Kiwi Daddy is named after him (yes I can still remember his name 20 years later… he was hot, okay?!?)
Anyway, that’s it from me for now. I hope you enjoy The Ways of the West! I’d love it if you would leave a review!
If you have a request for next months free book, please let me know!
