2025 is off with a bang! Not even half way through the first month of the year and I’ve got a new book out! Well actually, it’s not a new book. It’s an old book that I’ve got the rights back to, and re-released with a new cover and blurb. The story is exactly the same as the old one, so if you’ve been with me a long time, and already own The Gunslinger’s Woman, you probably won’t want to buy this one as well. The difference with this edition though, is it’s in KU! I will be releasing it wide eventually, so if you prefer to buy your books in places other than Amazon, or read them through libraries or Kobo Plus, it will be available there later in the year. I’m thinking somewhere around July.
Those of you who have followed me for a while, or who are in my FB reader group, might know that I have a thing for big brothers spanking little sisters. I’ve done a lot of self-analysing over the years to try to figure out why this is, and I think it stems from an incident that happened to me right at the cusp of my teenage years. I have shared the story before, and one day I may share it again. But anyway, me being me, I’ve explored that dynamic a little bit in my writing, and this story has our spitfire heroine Jeannie upended over her big, strong brother’s knee after she behaves like a hellion in town. It’s only at the start of the book, though, so if that’s not your thing, just skip over that page.
If you read my last newsletter, you will know that Kelly Dawson is retiring. Well not me - I’m not retiring (I wish I was!!) - but this pen name is. I’m moving on to other genres, because I have so many stories swarming in my head, and spicy, kinky, spanky romance isn’t the right setting to tell them. So The Christmas Reunion was the last “new” book to be written under the Kelly Dawson name. However, the 22 books I’ve written under this name are still going to be available for sale, and as the mood strikes me, I intend to write bonus scenes/short stories featuring the characters from them all, which I’ll share with you right here on this Substack.
It’s summer time here in New Zealand, and that means camping holidays! We hope to go next week, to our favourite spot by the river where we can swim, fish for trout, cook over a campfire, and relax in the sun and under the shade of the willow trees. I’m not much of a camping gal (I need my own loo!) but I’ll go out and join my family for a couple of nights, after work, and no doubt the peace and tranquility of the rushing river will provide inspiration for more stories (because I only have dozens of ideas already, what’s a few more?)
If you’re near the California wild fire, I hope you stay safe!
What I’m reading this month:
Straight spanking erotica series - I think there are 5 books total in this series. I’m up to #3 and enjoying them all so far! Definitely NSFW. Pure smut. They’re short, short, short. Like, 20 minute reads? But so, so good! (if you want to read mindless fantasy spanking erotica they’re good, anyway. There’s no plot in any of these so far.)
Aren’t kindles awesome? I can read my kinky spice on my lunch break at work (I’m a cook at a preschool) and nobody has a clue what I’m reading! But I also love a good paperback, and if you prefer paperbacks too, all of my backlist is out in paperback! (I think. Let me check with my publisher, but all of my indie titles are out in paperback. Some are in large print, too.)
Until next month…. take care, be safe, and keep reading :)
