How this year has flown by!
As you may or may not know, at the end of last year I decided to retire my Kelly Dawson pen name. There were a few things which made me decide this, but ultimately, my heart just isn’t in the kinky, spanky romance genre anymore. I want to branch out and write other things - other stories which have been calling to me for years - and Kelly Dawson is very niche.
Because of this, I’ve decided to simplify my royalties/books/life as much as possible, and despite always being adamant I would never do it, I have decided to put my books into Kindle Unlimited. It’s just easier that way, because marketing books “wide” (on all retailers) takes time I simply don’t have. So if you only read in KU, now is your chance to binge-read all my books!
The Christmas Reunion, Demolition Daddy and Kiwi Daddy are all in KU right now, and more of my books will be added as they’re removed from the other retailers. This can take some time, and unfortunately, it’s completely out of my hands. But if you haven’t already bought those three books, you can read them for free right now as part of your KU subscription!
I also have some exciting news: I have my first ever cover for my new pen name to share with you all! On the Other Side of Broken is a women’s fiction/rural romance mash-up set in New Zealand, part of it is on a farm in a tiny little place called Pollok, on the Awhitu Peninsula, across the harbour from Auckland, where I grew up (and incidentally, where both my parents were born, although my Dad moved away as a young child). My Kelly Dawson book Daddy’s Belt is actually set in the same place (even the same farm! Fictionalised, of course) so if you’ve read that, the setting will be familiar to you. I’ve probably even shared photos with you of the location before, and the background of the cover is a photo I took, of the farm where part of the story is set. Here it is:
Do you love it??? I do!! I gave my talented cover designer the book blurb, the photo I took, and told her the genre, and this is what she made! I’m so excited!
The book is actually written - it’s the second book I ever wrote - but because my writing has improved so much in the more-than-a-decade since I started writing it, I’m re-writing most of it, and then hiring an editor, so it won’t be out until probably September or so, but I couldn’t wait to share the cover :)
Once I have the blurb finalised, I’ll share that, too :)
In the meantime, please go read my books in KU, and I’ll share more links as I enrol more books. In case you’re not aware, Amazon requires exclusivity in order for books to be in KU, but this is limited to ebooks, so you can still buy the paperbacks at most online retailers.
Thanks for reading! Chat soon :)
